Austin, TX (June 11, 2015) —
Ector County ISD in Odessa, TX contracted Hellas Construction for almost $4.3 million on 8 Matrix® Turf and epiQ TRACKS® running track projects at 6 locations that began during the last week of May and are scheduled for completion in the beginning of August.
In addition to previously installing Matrix® Turf in Ratliff Stadium, with a capacity of 19,302 that has been called the “Epicenter of Texas High School Football” and where the movie Friday Night Lights was filmed, Hellas will also install the same turf at the stadium’s practice field. Permian and Odessa High School utilize these facilities for football games and practice.
Hellas removed the existing running track at Ector Junior High School and replaced it with an epiQ TRACKS® S200 running track system on June 7. Odessa High School, Permian High School, Nimitz Junior High, and Crockett Junior High will also be replacing their current running tracks with the same epiQ TRACKS® system. Full construction will begin on Nimitz and Crockett Junior High’s football and soccer multi-use facilities by converting their natural grass fields to Matrix® Synthetic Turf.
